Blackjack opt-out strategy
Derick Jones - 22.01.2021You’ve probably heard of the term “Blackjack Surrender,” which is what we’re going to talk about next.
What is Blackjack Surrender?
It’s incredibly simple – let’s say you sat down at the table and the dealer dealt you cards that do not suit you or simply do not like it. In this case, you can refuse the bet made and get your money back. Thus, the player gets an additional advantage over the casino, which as if “insures” the bet.
There are a total of 2 types of waiver – late and early. Both rejections offer, in essence, the same thing, but with one and very important nuance.
The specifics of the early order are such that the player can refuse to continue playing and get half of the money back, regardless of which hand the dealer got. Early refusal is such an exotic notion that is exceptionally rare today.
Late bust is much more common-it keeps the player from giving up if the dealer has a natural blackjack (21 points) and the bet will be lost anyway, which seriously reduces the value of such a tool.
How do you know about it?
It’s worth noting that it’s not that easy to “recognize” a blackjack pass opportunity – there’s not a single mention of it on the table and only the dealer can provide the necessary information. This type of pass-up is not available at every table. Recall that we are talking about the game in a real casino (not on the site.).
If there is an opportunity to surrender, it is required to make a special hand gesture – it should be done so that security cameras recorded the player’s desire. “Draw” a straight horizontal line on the table with your finger – this is a sign to the croupier that you are leaving the game. You should comment on your intention verbally, as the dealer may mistake your signal for a desire for another card.
How to refuse to play at an online casino
As you know, there are no dealers at online casinos, and a random number generator is used to shuffle the cards and distribute them. Thus, when playing against a computer program, there is no need to give verbal commands or make any hand signs. Button “surrender” in roums is located at the side or bottom of the gaming table. If the refusal is not possible – the button will not be active.
Giving Up Strategy
Let us remind you that refusing to play is a premature admission of one’s defeat, and we strongly advise against doing it very often. Basically, there are only three objective reasons to admit early defeat:
- Your bet amount is 15, and the dealer has opened a 10-point card or ace.
- The player managed to score 16 points (a pair of 8s) and the dealer received a 10-point card, an Ace, or a 9.
- Player’s total bet was 17 and the dealer received an Ace.
- In other options, with the proper degree of skill and foresight, the chances of success are present, and abandon the game is not worth it.
